ABOUT • Barry has a true passion for helping others achieve their athletic goals. Although completing six Ironman races since beginning racing in 2003, his true enjoyment is educating and assisting fellow athletes improve in the sport. If asked why he started coaching, Barry will tell you he simply enjoys helping his athletes reach their dreams and progressing from the mindset of "I'm not sure if I can do this" to "I just did that". His satisfaction in coaching comes from others achieving what they thought was once impossible.
This passion for helping others was a strong influence in the establishment of his own coaching and metabolic testing business in 2007. He then started coaching with X3 Endurance in 2013 when he saw the opportunity to connect with a highly motivated team that matched his enthusiasm for the sport and helping others achieve their goals.
His passion for mulit-sport endurance coaching is also backed with a strong educational foundation in the field of health and fitness. Barry has earned a BS degree in Exercise Science, holds a Level I USAT Coaching Certification and is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American Council on Exercise.
COACHING SPECIALTY • Barry enjoys working with athletes of all levels from "Newbies" to "Kona Qualifiers". He understands the importance of combining training and racing with family and a life outside the sport. Time is important for all athletes and his training plans emphasize quality and purpose for every workout based on their specific, individualized goals. Barry is often adjusting his athletes' plans when "life happens".
